Why Is There a Need for Diapers?
  • Infants need up to a dozen diapers per day, toddlers need up to 8 diapers per day
  • An adequate supply of diapers could cost $100 per month, per child
  • Diapers are not covered by WIC or other forms of public assistance
Why Do Diapers Matter?
  • Children in low-income households may stay in soiled diapers too long
  • Inadequate diaper changing increases the risk of health problems
  • A baby crying from being in a soiled diaper may be at a greater risk of physical abuse
  • Daycare centers may require parents to provide their own disposable diapers, creating a barrier to finding adequate childcare
